RESOLUTION
Commending
Captain Michael "Mike" Dwain Pruitt; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Captain Michael "Mike" Dwain Pruitt began his career in law enforcement as an
undercover agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, making undercover
drug transactions, and he brought his expertise to the Fayette County
Sheriff´s Office, where he has worked for the last 26 years, serving
primarily on the front lines in the battle against illegal narcotics;
and
WHEREAS,
he was a part of the Sheriff´s Drug Suppression Task Force when it began in
1989, and he is largely responsible for the unqualified success the program has
enjoyed over the years; and
WHEREAS,
under his command, the task force has arrested 1,623 persons, executed 500
searches, and seized over 228 weapons, 5,300 pounds of cocaine, 37,000 pounds
and 9,000 plants of marijuana, 961 pounds of methamphetamine, and $34 million in
money seizures; and
WHEREAS,
with the money seized by Captain Pruitt, the sheriff´s office has been
able to implement several specialized units, including the aviation unit, the
special weapons and tactics team, the dive team, the crisis negotiation unit,
the K-9 unit, and the honor guard, and the Fayette County Sheriff´s Office
has become one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in the state;
and
WHEREAS,
Captain Pruitt and his agents have performed an invaluable service to the
citizens of his community, the state, and the nation through the interdiction of
illegal narcotics and the incarceration of those who would prey on our citizens;
and
WHEREAS,
throughout all the time he spends fighting crime, Captain Pruitt continues to be
a devoted husband to his lovely wife, Diana, a doting father to their four
children, and a proud grandfather to their five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting and proper that this dedicated lawman and public servant be
recognized and commended.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OR REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend Captain Michael "Mike" Dwain Pruitt for the
service he has performed in the field of law enforcement over his many years of
service.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Captain
Michael "Mike" Dwain Pruitt.
