A RESOLUTION


Congratulating and commending Keldrique Lofton and inviting him to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Keldrique Lofton is the state recipient of the 2007 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), the first program of its type in the nation to honor outstanding students in postsecondary technical colleges; and

WHEREAS, GOAL brings together Georgia´s business, government, and industry leaders with the state´s technical colleges to celebrate technical education´s vital impact on Georgia´s work force, prosperity, and future; and

WHEREAS, for more than 36 years, the GOAL program has served as an excellent example of a true partnership among business, industry, and education; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lofton was selected from among 36 local technical college GOAL winners who have demonstrated excellent academic and leadership ability at their respective technical colleges; and

WHEREAS, he will serve as an ambassador for technical education in Georgia, representing more than 141,000 students benefiting from technical education programs throughout the state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Keldrique Lofton for his outstanding achievements and commend his efforts to promote technical education in Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mr. Keldrique Lofton is invited to appear before this body at a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Keldrique Lofton.
