A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending David Dean as head coach of the Valdosta State University
football team; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
due to the superior coaching abilities of Head Coach David Dean, the Valdosta
State University football team claimed the 2007 NCAA Division II National
Championship, their second title in the last four years and third title game
appearance in six years; and
WHEREAS,
in his first season, Coach Dean steered his team to a 13-1 record season,
overcoming second half deficits in six of the 13 wins; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Dean has been named the American Football Coaches Association Division II
Coach of the Year, an award voted on by his peers; and
WHEREAS,
he was also named Division II Coach of the Year by
American Football
Weekly and by Schutt Sports;
and
WHEREAS,
the Touchdown Club of Atlanta presented him with the NCAA Division II Coach of
the Year award; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Dean is only the second NCAA Division II coach to lead his team to a
national championship in his first season.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Head Coach David Dean for his outstanding achievements and
extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the
future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach
David Dean.
