RESOLUTION
To
authorize and provide for the presentation of Legislative Service Awards on
behalf of the House of Representatives and its members; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
it is appropriate that the members of this body should be authorized, on behalf
of the House of Representatives, to present Legislative Service Awards to
recognize truly deserving individuals.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that there is
authorized for the House of Representatives a Legislative Service Award program,
as follows:
(a)
Each Legislative Service Award shall consist of a certificate and pin in such
form as may be approved by the Speaker of the House; and such certificate and
pin may bear the seal of the House of Representatives with the approval of the
Speaker.
(b)
Each member of the House of Representatives shall be authorized to issue one
Legislative Service Award per year to an individual selected by that member on
the basis of outstanding contributions to the public good.
(c)
The House shall maintain an adequate supply of certificates and pins for this
purpose. The House may accept financial or in-kind donations for this purpose or
may with the approval of the Speaker expend funds appropriated or otherwise
available to the House for this purpose.
