RESOLUTION
Honoring
the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Atlanta Greek Orthodox Annunciation Cathedral will host the bi-annual
Clergy-Laity Assembly and Philoptochos Congress of the Metropolis of Atlanta
from June 7 through June 10, 2007; and
WHEREAS,
the Clergy-Laity Congress and Philoptochos Congress will draw delegates and
attendees from the Metropolis of Atlanta which contains Greek Orthodox parishes
within the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South
Carolina, and Tennessee; and
WHEREAS,
the theme for this year's Clergy-Laity Assembly and Philoptochos Congress is
"Family" as announced by His Eminence, Metropolitan Alexios; and
WHEREAS,
this gathering of Greek Orthodox Christians will be an opportunity for all
attendees to examine the many wonderful functions of the Metropolis of Atlanta
as well as to share their hopes, dreams, and vision of the future in order to
promote the spiritual growth of present and future generations of Orthodox
Christians in the Metropolis of Atlanta; and
WHEREAS,
there will be many opportunities during the Clergy-Laity Congress and
Philoptochos Congress for the attendees to meet in educational seminars, gather
in business meetings, and join in prayer to achieve the purposes of this
bi-annual gathering of Greek Orthodox Christians; and
WHEREAS,
this body wishes to express its respect and admiration for the Metropolis of
Atlanta and its appreciation for the many contributions its parishes and
congregants have made to the Southeast in general and Georgia in
particular.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta, commend its numerous
outstanding contributions to the citizens of this state, and extend their
sincerest best wishes for future growth and prosperity.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body extend a hearty welcome to the
delegates and attendees of the Clergy-Laity Assembly and Philoptochos
Congress.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to His Eminence
Alexios, the Metropolitan of Atlanta and Nicholas Moraitakis, Clergy Laity
Assembly Chairman.
