BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act placing the Sheriff of Washington County upon an annual salary in
lieu of the fee system of compensation, approved March 12, 1965
(Ga. L. 1965, p. 2395), as amended, so as to change the
compensation of the sheriff; to provide for related matters; to provide an
effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act placing the Sheriff of Washington County upon an annual salary in lieu of
the fee system of compensation, approved March 12, 1965 (Ga. L. 1965,
p. 2395), as amended, is amended by revising Section 2 as
follows:
"Section
2. The Sheriff of Washington County shall receive an annual salary in an amount
equal to the minimum salary for sheriffs as calculated in accordance with Code
Section 15-16-20 of the O.C.G.A. plus $10,000.00. The sheriff shall be paid in
equal monthly installments from the funds of Washington County. It is
specifically stipulated that the annual salary provided herein for the sheriff
shall be in lieu of all fees, fines, forfeitures, commissions, costs,
allowances, penalties, funds, moneys, salaries, and all other emoluments and
perquisites of whatever kind formerly allowed as compensation for services in
any capacity, including services as Sheriff of the City of
Sandersville."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective on January 1, 2009.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
