BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
provide for certain procedures regarding the property of evicted tenants upon
eviction within the corporate limits of the City of Savannah; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
(a)
Where there has not been personal service notifying the tenant of eviction and
all notice and procedures in Article 3 of Chapter 7 of Title 7 of the Official
Code of Georgia Annotated have been met, upon eviction, the property of any
tenant evicted shall be held in storage by the evicting landlord for not less
than 45 days.
(b) The expenses incurred by the evicting landlord for storing the evicted tenant´s property pursuant to subsection (a) of this section may be credited against the evicted tenant´s deposit on the leased property or, if the evicted tenant does not claim his or her property within 60 days of eviction, the evicting landlord may recoup his or her costs by disposing of the evicted tenant´s stored property.

SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
