BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 1 of Chapter 27 of Title 50 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated relating to general provisions regarding the lottery for education, so
as to provide for certain requirements regarding proof of identification prior
to awarding certain lottery prizes; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
1 of Chapter 27 of Title 50 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to general provisions regarding the lottery for education, is amended by adding
a new Code section to read as follows:
"50-27-23.1.
Prior
to awarding a lottery prize in an amount greater than $500.00, the corporation,
retailer, or vendor shall require the prize winner to present an identification
which contains a photograph and one of the following:
(1)
Proof of social security number;
(2)
Valid United States passport;
(3)
Foreign passport with valid visa information establishing legal entry into the
United States;
(4)
United States armed forces identification card; or
(5)
Permanent resident card demonstrating permanent residency in the United
States."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
