GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
GEORGIA:" the
following:
SECTION

Title
48 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to revenue, is amended in
Article 5 of Chapter 13, relating to excise taxes on rental vehicles, by
designating the existing matter as Part 1 and adding a new Part 2 to read as
follows:
"Part
2
48-13-101.
Each
contract for a rental motor vehicle of 30 days or less in length by a rental
motor vehicle concern in this state shall include a surcharge of 3.5 percent of
the rental charges. Such surcharge shall be collected by the rental motor
vehicle concern and shall be remitted on a monthly basis to the department. The
department shall collect such surcharges and shall deposit such surcharges in
the general fund of this state with the intent that these moneys be used to fund
a trauma care system in Georgia and the direct and indirect costs associated
with the administration of such system and this Code section. The department is
authorized to promulgate such rules and regulations as necessary to implement
this Code section."
