BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 1 of Title 46 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to general provisions relating to public utilities and public transportation, so
as to provide that certain utilities shall return consumer deposits under
certain conditions; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
1 of Title 46 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general
provisions relating to public utilities, and public transportation, is amended
by inserting at the end thereof a new Code section to read as
follows:
"46-1-6.
Each
retail supplier of electricity, gas, water, and telephone service which requires
the payment of a deposit from its residential customers shall return such
deposit, with any legally required interest thereon, when such customer has
satisfactorily paid his or her charges for 12 consecutive
months."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
