A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT


To amend Code Section 50-3-100 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to English designated as the official language, constitutional rights not denied, authorization for documents and forms in other languages, and exceptions, so as to provide that public entities shall provide forms and documents only in English; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 50-3-100 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to English designated as the official language, constitutional rights not denied, authorization for documents and forms in other languages, and exceptions, is amended by revising subsection (c) as follows:
"(c) State agencies, counties, municipal corporations, and political subdivisions of this state are not authorized to use or to print official documents and forms in languages any language other than the official language, at the discretion of their governing authorities. Documents filed or recorded with a state agency or with the clerk of a county, municipal corporation, or political subdivision must be in the official language or, if the original document is in a language other than the official language, an English translation of the document must be simultaneously filed."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
