BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend an Act creating the State Court of Mitchell County (formerly the City
Court of Camilla), approved August 17, 1905 (Ga. L. 1905, p. 184), as amended,
so as to provide that the judge shall be a full-time judge for said court; to
provide for qualifications of the judge; to change the provisions relating to
the compensation of the judge; to provide an effective date; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
An
Act creating the State Court of Mitchell County (formerly the City Court of
Camilla), approved August 17, 1905 (Ga. L. 1905, p. 184), as amended, is amended
by revising subsection (a) of Section (2) as follows:
"(a)(1)
The position of judge of the State Court of Mitchell County shall be a full-time
position.
(2)
The judge of said court shall have such qualifications and shall be subject to
such restrictions and discipline as provided in Chapter 7 of Title 15 of the
O.C.G.A.; and, as provided in subsection (b) of Code Section 15-7-21, the
full-time judge of the state court shall not engage in the private practice of
law.
(3)
The judge of said court shall receive an annual salary equal to 60 percent of
the gross salary as defined in paragraph (4) of this subsection which shall be
payable out of the funds of Mitchell County at the same intervals as
installments are paid to other county employees.
(4)
For the purposes of paragraph (3) of this subsection, the term 'gross salary'
shall mean the annual salary received by a superior court judge, from state
funds only, effective July 1, 2007, plus any increases in said annual salary for
superior court judges, from state funds only, on or after July 1,
2007."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective July 1, 2007.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
