BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 15-12-7 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to compensation of court bailiffs and expense allowance for jurors to be fixed
by the grand jury and increases, so as to eliminate the maximum per diem allowed
to court bailiffs; to eliminate the governing authorities´ approval of
increases in compensation for court bailiffs; to provide for related matters; to
repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 15-12-7 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to
compensation of court bailiffs and expense allowance for jurors to be fixed by
the grand jury and increases, is amended by striking paragraph (1) of subsection
(a) and subsection (b) and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"(1)
The compensation of court bailiffs in the superior courts of such counties for
the next succeeding year, such compensation not to be less than $5.00
nor to
exceed $70.00 per diem. The same
compensation shall be allowed to bailiffs of the several state courts and
special courts as is allowed bailiffs in the superior court of the county in
which the state or special court is located;"
"(b)
Any
increase in
the compensation of court bailiffs or
increases in expense allowances for jurors fixed by a grand jury shall be
subject to the approval of the governing authority of the
county."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
