A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Chapter 9 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to consent for surgical or medical treatment, so as to provide that a surrogate decision-making panel shall be included as a last resort entity that is authorized to consent to surgical or medical treatment on behalf of an incapacitated person; to provide for legislative findings; to provide for the establishment of surrogate decision-making panels; to provide for ad hoc hospital committees; to provide for immunity; to provide for compliance with federal privacy law; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
