Senate Page Duties:

Senate Page duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the Senate Chamber. This offers a unique opportunity to experience Georgia's "Upper Chamber" first hand.

Pages enjoy lunch and discuss government with Sen. Mitch Seabaugh (R-28)

Senate Page Guidelines:

  • The Page is to be 12 years of age or older (6th grade students and above).
  • Requests to Page are made through the office of your State Senator or the Lt. Governor.
  • The Page should call his or her Senator one business day before service to learn what time the Senate will convene for the day. (Note: This is subject to change, please make sure to verify time and date).
  • The Page is to report to the State Capitol Senate Page Desk (outside the Senate Chamber, 3rd floor) for orientation at 8:30 a.m. if the Senate is convening at 10:00 a.m. or at 8:00 a.m. if the Senate is convening at 9:00 a.m.
  • Each Page is sponsored by the Lt. Governor or a Senator, but works for the whole Senate.
  • The Page needs to be able to tell the Page Director the name of the Senator who is sponsoring him or her.
  • The Page should be dressed neatly in skirts or dress slacks (no mini-skirts or jeans) and in comfortable shoes.
  • The Page serves for one day and works until the session is over that day. (Note: If a scheduled conflict occurs the Page will be relieved upon request of guardian.).
  • Each page will receive a certificate of duty and a $10.00 honorarium.
  • The Pages will have their pictures made with the Lt. Governor and their Senator. Each Page receives a copy of his or her picture, which is mailed by the Lt. Governor's or Senator's office in about 2 weeks time.
  • The Pages are on their own for lunch unless their sponsors take them to lunch. (There is a snack bar in the Capitol and a cafeteria across the street in the Twin Towers building.)
  • The Pages may not chew gum while paging.
  • Adjournment time varies daily. Make sure the Page has a phone number to contact a parent when the Senate session is over. Each Page must sign out on the Page Payroll Sheet at the Page Desk before leaving for the day.

The Senate will convene on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 10:00 am.
