
Representative Willie Talton

Elected in 2005, Representative Willie Talton currently serves as the spokesman for the constituents of House District 145, encompassing the communities of Houston County. Representative Talton was appointed by Speaker of the House, Glenn Richardson, Vice Chairmen of Children & Youth. He also serves on Public Safety& Homeland Security, Motor Vehicles, Education and the Banks & Banking Committee. Representative Talton has been selected to serve as Deputy Majority Whip for the House of Representatives.
His education includes an Associated Degree in Education from Middle Georgia College in 1974 and a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Fort Valley State University. Upon completion of the Houston County Training School in 1962, Talton began his law enforcement career with the city of Warner Robbins just 3 years later. He completed several courses of special training along the way. In 1972, he was a student of the Basic Mandate Training Course, followed by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (GPSTC) in 1974. He also took the GPSTC Instructor’s Course along with various other state, local and federal training courses. He retired serving the Houston County Sherriff Department with 33 years as Deputy Sherriff and 28 of those years as Chief Deputy Sheriff. He currently serves as interim Chief of Police for the Centerville Police Department.
Representative Talton has had extensive organizational involvement, including his service of the Former Governor’s Board of Private Detectives and Security Guards for the State of Georgia. He is a member of the Flint Electric Corporation’s Board of Directors and a member of the Rotary Club. He is also on the Board of the YMCA, CB&T Bank and Robin’s Museum of Aviation.
Talton and his wife, the former Annie Mae Tobler, have been married for 44 years. The couple has two children and five grandchildren.
