REPRESENTATIVE DONNA SHELDON APPOINTED BY SPEAKER TO JOINT STUDY COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION FUNDING ATLANTA— Georgia State Representative Donna Sheldon (R-Dacula) has been appointed by Georgia Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) to serve on the Joint Study Committee on Transportation Funding. “Transportation is one of the most pressing issues facing our state and my district,” said Sheldon. “It is my hope that together with the Senate we will be able to find sensible and realistic options to solve the congestion problems facing Georgia.” The Joint Study Committee on Transportation Funding was created by Senate Resolution 365 during the last session of the Georgia General Assembly. The committee will consist of eight members, four each from the Georgia House and the Georgia Senate. The committee is tasked with studying the “conditions, needs, issues, and problems” associated with Georgia’s transportation infrastructure and must report their findings along with any recommended actions back to the Georgia General Assembly. “Representative Sheldon is a hard-working, common-sense legislator who has a lot to bring to the table when it comes to solving the transportation problems Georgia must tackle,” said Richardson. “Her experience in the House of Representatives as well as her ability to resolve tough problems will be an asset to the committee.” The committee’s first meeting will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2007, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm in room 607 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building. The media and the public are invited to attend.
