Representative Martin Scott

HD 2 (R - Rossville)

Representative Martin Scott was first elected to the House in 2005. With a reputation for hard work and principle-centered leadership, Scott represents Georgia’s 2nd District, which includes all of Dade County and northern, western, and southern Walker County. Rep. Scott sits on the Banks and Banking and Industrial Relations Committees, and he also serves as the secretary for the Ways and Means Committee. Additionally, he serves as a Deputy Majority Whip for the House of Representatives.

Growing up in Northwest Georgia, Rep. Scott worked to pay his own way through college, graduating from Chattanooga State and Shorter College with an undergraduate degree in business. He later earned a master of business administration degree from Kennesaw State University. In the private sector, Rep. Scott created his own consulting company and also became a licensed Realtor.

A conservative Republican, Scott has been a grassroots political activist for many years. He is also active in numerous organizations, including the Sons of Confederate Veterans, National Rifle Association, and the Chamber of Commerce; the legislator also served as a board member of Georgia Right to Life.

Rep. Scott and his wife Jane have four daughters – Katherine, Elizabeth, Emily, and Mary – and they live in Rossville, Georgia. They are members of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Oglethorpe where the Representative teaches Sunday school.
