
Representative Matt Ramsey

HD 72 (R - Peachtree City)
Matt Ramsey was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Fayette County.
After graduating from Fayette County High School, Matt attended Georgia Southern University where he obtained a degree in Political Science. Upon graduation, Matt worked as a legislative aide to State Representative Mark Burkhalter during the 1999 session of the General Assembly. At the end of that session, Matt moved to Washington D.C. to work on Capitol Hill for United States Congressman Mac Collins. Matt served on Collins’ staff for almost 6 years – 3 in the DC office and 3 in the District office while attending law school in the evenings.
While working for Congressman Collins in Washington, Matt served as a legislative aide and worked on several issue areas; including, tax and budget policy, transportation, energy, defense and veterans. After returning to his native Georgia, Matt worked in Congressman Collins’ district office and was responsible for working with local governments, private organizations and constituents as a liaison to the federal government.
When Congressman Collins went out of office just prior to his last semester in law school, Matt went to work for a session of the General Assembly with State Senator Mitch Seabaugh, where he served as his legislative aide.
Matt received his Juris Doctor degree and graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law in 2005.
Matt currently practices law in Fayette County and is a partner with Warner, Hooper, and Ramsey, P.C. in Peachtree City, Georgia. Warner, Hooper and Ramsey is a general business practice that focuses on a variety of commercial matters including business transactions and estate planning.
Matt and his wife Missy have two children, Anna Lynne and Jacob. Matt and his family live in Peachtree City and are members of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Matt is active in a variety of local organizations, including the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce.
