Statement of Representative Roger Lane Regarding Senate Bill 555

ATLANTA – Representative Roger Lane (R-Darien) today issued the following statements regarding the Senate passing Senate Bill 555.

Representative Roger Lane said:

“Late last month the Senate passed Senate Bill 555 which sought to give a raise to all members of the Board of Education in Glynn County.  I am not against giving a raise to the Board of Education members, but this bill would triple their current salaries.  I believe that with state spending already being incredibly stretched, we cannot afford to triple their income.  I oppose this bill not on its principal but because of the vast increase in their salaries.  Because there must be unanimous consent with the Glynn County delegation for this bill to pass, I intend to block the bill by not giving it my support.  I would hope that our delegation could get together and offer a pay increase on a much lesser scale for the next legislative session.”
