***Media Advisory*** GEORGIA HOUSE MAJORITY WHIP BARRY FLEMING TO HOLD FIRST MEDICAL EDUCATION STUDY COMMITTEE MEETING WHEN: Wednesday, August 15th @ 10:00 AM ATLANTA—Georgia State Representative Barry Fleming (R-Augusta), Majority Whip of the House Republican Caucus, today announced that the House Study Committee on Medical Education will hold its first meeting Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at 10:00 am, in Room 341 of the State Capitol. The House Study Committee on Medical Education was created by House Resolution 668 during the 2007 legislative session. Recognizing the growing need for physicians as Georgia’s population continues to climb, the study committee was created to explore how to expand medical education opportunities and clinical training, and increase the number of medical students across Georgia. Fleming has been appointed Chair of the committee by House Speaker Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram). Other committee members include Representatives Bill Hembree (R-Winston), Barbara Sims (R-Augusta), Quincy Murphy (D-Augusta), Penny Houston (R-Nashville), and Bob Smith(R-Watkinsville). ### |
