MEDICAL EDUCATION STUDY COMMITTEE TO HOLD SECOND MEETING Legislators Will Hear More about Medical Education Funding in GA ATLANTA—Georgia House Representative Barry Fleming (R-Augusta), Majority Whip of the House Republican Caucus, today announced the second meeting of the House Medical Education Study Committee will be held at the Medical College of Georgia Alumni Center on Friday, October 5, 2007, from 8:00 am to Noon. We have a panel of experts lined up to address the issue of medical education financing and funding, model for expanding medical education and requirement for graduate training. The committee will hear from the following experts: Karen Fisher, Senior Associate Vice President, Division of Health Care Affairs, AAMC; Dr. Bill Mallon, Associate Vice President, Organization and Management Studies, AAMC; Dr. Walter Moore, MCG Residency Programs; Ben Robinson, Executive Director, Georgia Board for Physician Workforce; and Dr. Dan Rahn, President; Medical College of Georgia. Fleming was appointed Chair of the committee by House Speaker Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram). Other committee members include Representatives Bill Hembree (R-Winston), Barbara Sims (R-Augusta), Quincy Murphy (D-Augusta), Penny Houston (R-Nashville), and Bob Smith(R-Watkinsville). ### |
