REPRESENTATIVE MELVIN EVERSON RECEIVES COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS

Tapped as Vice Chair of Transportation Subcommittee

ATLANTA—Georgia State Representative Melvin Everson (R-Snellville) today announced his committee assignments for the 2007-2008 session of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Everson will serve as Secretary of the House Committee on Human Resources and Aging, and a Member of House Committees on Transportation, Education and Judiciary.  Everson has also been tapped by Chairman of the House Transportation Committee Vance Smith (R-Pine Mountain) to serve as Vice Chair of the House Transportation Resolution Subcommittee.

"I am confident that Representative Everson will be an asset to each of his committees and represent the best interests of the people of his district," Speaker of the House Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) said.  "As the 2007-2008 legislative session begins, I look forward to working with him on the important issues facing our state as we continue moving Georgia forward."

Everson has represented House District 106 since 2005.

“It is an honor to serve the people of my district on these committees and I am eager to get busy on our important work,” Everson said.  “It is an honor to be entrusted with the additional responsibility of two leadership positions within my committees and I remain committed to do the best job possible for my district and our state.”
