Representative Carl Epps

HD 128 (D - LaGrange)

First elected in 1992 to the Georgia State House of Representatives, Representative Carl Von Epps holds a degree in Business Administration from Morehouse College. The longtime serving legislator enjoys a career in Retail Sales when he isn’t busy with his law-making duties on the House Floor. At present, he holds membership on several House Committees including, Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Insurance and Regulated Industries. Through these memberships, he makes sure that the people of House District 108, covering Meriwether and parts of Troup Counties, are well represented.

Outside of the Capitol, Von Epps enjoys spending time with his wife Benita and his four children-Carl III, Vonnetta, Rashad and Kellie. The family attends a local Methodist Church. An active member of his community, the representative is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., the West Georgia Emergency Medical Services Council, the Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation Foundation, Chattahoochee Boy Scout Council, Troup READ and the Troup County Communities and Schools. Von Epps has served as Chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus and as a Board Member of the Troup County Board of Health and United Way of West Georgia. The legislator is the founding President of the West Georgia Chapter of 100 Black Men of America.

In addition to his active civil service, he has been the recipient of several awards including: Georgia Child Care Association Legislator of the Year, Meriwether County NAACP 1997 Man of the Year, Sons of LaGrange Lodge 537 Community Service Award, Troup County Association of Educators and Alpha Phi Alpha Outstanding Citizen of the Year.
