REPRESENTATIVE KARLA DRENNER RE-INTRODUCES ATLANTA—Georgia State House Representative Karla Drenner (D-Dekalb) today announced her plans to re-introduce a water-saving measure that will tighten water flow requirements for toilets, shower heads, and faucets installed in commercial and residential buildings. “Parts of Georgia are facing historic drought conditions and it is incumbent upon every one of us to do our part to conserve water any way we can,” Drenner said. “We will never be able to predict the weather or an impending drought, but we can hold ourselves accountable for the amount of we use and the amount of water we waste.” First introduced as House Bill 1467 during the 2004 legislative session, this measure stipulates the use of greater water saving fixtures in all commercial and residential new construction, renovations and replacement of existing plumbing fixtures. Drenner is currently working with House staff on an updated version of the bill and hopes to pre-file the new legislation in November for consideration during the 2008 legislative session. ### |
