REPRESENTATIVE DOLLAR PROPOSES STUDY COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE ADMISSIONS PROCESSES & POLICIES WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF GEORGIA ATLANTA—Georgia State Representative Matt Dollar (R-East Cobb) and Senator Judson Hill (R-Marietta, Sandy Springs) introduced legislation creating study committees to investigate the admission practices and polices of the University of Georgia and the other universities of the University System of Georgia. House Resolution 1877 and Senate Resolution 1280 would create separate House and Senate study committees. Representative Dollar states, “There have been several concerns expressed, particularly in certain areas of the State, over the admissions process of the University System of Georgia and its flagship. The Legislature goes to great lengths to ensure that we retain our best and brightest students, and we need to have confidence that our Universities are partners in that mission.” The resolutions state that admission should be based solely on a student’s merit. ### |
