REP. BURKE DAY SCHEDULED TO SPEAK AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL TERRORISM

State Representative Burke Day (R)-Tybee Island will be the keynote speaker at the 7th Annual International Conference on Global Terrorism which will take place in Herzliya, Israel on September 8-11. Rep. Day serves as the Chairman of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee to the Georgia House of Representatives. In addition, for more than five years Representative Day has served on federal task forces that deal with domestic and global terrorism issues.

“Global and specialized exchanges that impede terrorism are imperative, as we have seen with recent threats in London and California. We must unite as a global community to continue international cooperation in taking preventative action against the ever-changing faces of terrorist networks,” Day said.

The Institute for Counter Terrorism (ICT) at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya in Israel is a renowned research institute dedicated to developing innovative public policy solutions to international terrorism. More than 800 diplomats from 445 countries participated in the conference last year.

Rep. Day was elected in 1994 to the Georgia House of Representatives and is in his seventh term. He represents the Eastern most parts of Savannah and Chatham County

including Tybee Island, Wilmington Island, Isle of Hope, Thunderbolt and Skidaway Island, in the Georgia General Assembly.
