CHAIRMAN SHARON COOPER ANNOUNCES JOINT MEETINGOF THE HOUSE AND SENATE WHEN: Thursday, January 25, 2007, 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM ATLANTA—Chairman of the House Health and Human Services Committee Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta) today announced a joint meeting of the House and Senate Health and Human Services Committees will be held Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Grady Memorial Hospital, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Committee members will hear presentations on the importance of Grady Health System as a teaching hospital and its impact on the state and our citizens. The committees will hear from the following individuals: Dr. Curtis Lewis, Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief of Staff for Grady Memorial Hospital; Dr. Eve J. Higginbotham, Dean and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs of Morehouse School of Medicine; and Dr. Thomas Lawley, Dean of the Emory School of Medicine. “For any community to thrive economically, it must provide quality educational opportunities and have a strong health care delivery system,” Cooper said. “Through its resident training programs, Grady is an essential component to insuring a strong physician workforce in Georgia.” The meeting is open to the public and the media. ### |
