REPRESENTATIVE MICKEY CHANNELL APPLAUDS LOAN PROMISE FOR UNION POINT PROJECT

ATLANTA—Georgia State Representative Mickey Channell (R-Greensboro) today applauded the promise of an economic development loan for the city of Union Point.

“Water has become a huge issue and while the state is doing its part to provide a statewide water management plan, I am proud to see Union Point taking steps to make improvements at the local level,” Channell said.  “Water and sewer improvements in our communities are not only a public health issue but also leads to greater economic development opportunity.”

The loan is from the Georgia Fund and will be in the amount of $694,000.  The Georgia Fund provides local communities with low interest loans and grants for water, wastewater and sold waste management infrastructure projects.  The loan was approved by the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority and included in the Governor’s budget request.
