A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Kessel D. Stelling, Jr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Kessel D. Stelling, Jr., was appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to represent the Sixth Congressional District on the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Stelling is a bank executive and veteran civic leader in Cobb County, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he is a two-time chairman of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, and he is president and chief executive officer of the Bank of North Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he currently serves as chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, as a trustee of Kennesaw State University, and as a member of the Development Authority of Cobb County, and he is on the boards of Terry College of Business, the Cobb Community Foundation, and WellStar Health Systems; and

WHEREAS, in 2003, Mr. Stelling was named the Cobb Citizen of the Year by the Marietta Daily Journal and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and his graduate degree from Louisiana State University; and

WHEREAS, he and his lovely wife, Carol, have two wonderful children.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Mr. Kessel D. Stelling, Jr., for the valuable services he provides to his community and this state and commend him on his appointment to represent the Sixth Congressional District on the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Kessel D. Stelling, Jr.
