A RESOLUTION


Commending Cheryl Ruffer; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, The Townelaker magazine each month recognizes a local person that exemplifies the qualities of a pathfinder, someone that is leading the way and trying to make the community the best it can be; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl Ruffer was recognized by The Townelaker magazine as Pathfinder of the Month for April 2007; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl and her husband, Bruce, along with their children, Jackson and Rachel, moved to Canton, Georgia, in July of 2003, and since that time, Cheryl has become a leader in the community, making a difference on a daily basis and reaching out to those in need; and

WHEREAS, this foster parent began her community involvement by volunteering in her local Salvation Army thrift store before becoming involved with MUST Ministries, making weekly bread runs and collecting supplies for the Give A Kid A Chance outreach program; and

WHEREAS, she has played an integral role in starting such programs as the Liberty Hill Church Thanksgiving outreach feast for the local Hispanic community; the feast provides a free meal for more than 300 area residents; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl Ruffer, a champion of the underdog who thinks of every human being as a precious child of God, is a role model with an incredibly giving heart; and

WHEREAS, she not only volunteers with big organizations but she is ready and willing to help everyday individuals, her neighbors, or even strangers, and thereby, Cheryl exemplifies the true sense of giving of oneself to others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend and congratulate Cheryl Ruffer on being recognized by The Townelaker magazine as Pathfinder of the Month for April 2007 and express to her their appreciation for her selfless contributions to her community and this state.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Cheryl Ruffer.
