A
RESOLUTION
Congratulating
and commending the Houston County Board of Education on being named a national
top ten digital school board; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Houston County Board of Education received 1st place in the large systems
category as a national top ten digital school board at the 2007 National School
Board Association T+L Conference; and
WHEREAS,
the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association
chose the country's most digitally-advanced school boards based on their annual
digital school boards survey; and
WHEREAS,
this award makes the school system's fourth consecutive top ten honor, winning
second place in 2005, third place in 2006, and tied for eighth place in 2004;
and
WHEREAS,
the study examines how school boards and their school districts apply technology
to engage local communities and constituents to improve delivery of services and
quality of education; and
WHEREAS,
the top ten winners reflect those school boards with the fullest implementation
of technology benchmarks in the evolution of digital education; and
WHEREAS,
more than 2,500 school districts were asked to participate in the survey which
groups school boards into three categories based on student population;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the Houston County Board of Education
be recognized appropriately upon the grand occasion of this extraordinary
achievement.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily
congratulate the Houston County School Board on being ranked first in the large
school systems category of the top ten digital school boards and commend its
board members for their efforts to improve education in their community and the
state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Houston County Board
of Education.
