A RESOLUTION


Commending Linda Edwards; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Linda Edwards has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to Cobb County and the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced by 18 years of superlative service to Cobb County in the Board of Commissioners office, the State Court´s office, the Parks and Recreation Department, and the office of the Clerk of the Superior Court; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, she has received numerous awards and recognition for her outstanding work, including her work with development of the customer service training program, recognition as a Star employee, a certificate of commendation from the Environmental Realities Development Symposium, the 1999, 2000, and 2005 Distinguished Performance Award for Cobb County employees, being recognized by the Georgia Council of the Arts for operating an outstanding Grassroots Arts Program Grant Agency for Cobb County, the Business Management Award of Excellence for the Cobb County Civic Center, and her recognition for work with research to locate victims due restitution funds in which she was instrumental in the payout of over $400,000; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Linda Edwards for over 18 years of effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Linda Edwards.
