RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Jane Li; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Jane Li is a native of China who resides in Atlanta, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
she has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of
Central Arkansas and is a Professional Master of Business Administration
candidate at Georgia State University; and
WHEREAS,
she is actively involved in the local Chinese community and is fluent in both
English and Chinese; and
WHEREAS,
she has been a board member, the secretary general, and vice president of the
Association of Chinese Professionals in Atlanta; and
WHEREAS,
in 2004, she established the Ningbo Business Promotion Association to promote
economic trade, cultural education, mutual understanding, and tourism between
Ningbo, China, and Atlanta; and
WHEREAS,
in 2005, she coordinated a visit from the Ningbo government delegation to
Atlanta, which marked the first time a Chinese mayor from mainland China has
visited Georgia, and she witnessed the signing of the friendship city intention
agreement by the mayor of Atlanta and the mayor of Ningbo; and
WHEREAS,
in 2006, she was designated by the Ningbo Foreign Investment Development Board
as its Georgia representative to promote foreign investments; and
WHEREAS,
she worked with the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Metro
Atlanta Chamber of Commerce to bring 24 people to the Zhejiang Investment and
Trade Symposium and China International Consumer Goods Fair in Ningbo;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Li led the effort promoting Ningbo to become Atlanta's Chinese sister city, and, as of June, 2007, Ningbo has been officially selected by the Atlanta Sister Cities Commission to become its newest sister city; and

WHEREAS,
she is currently the chairwoman of the Atlanta-Ningbo Alliance Committee which
will soon become the Atlanta-Ningbo Sister City Committee; and
WHEREAS,
she was invited to join the board of directors of the Monte Jade Science and
Technology Association, a global association with 14 chapters distributed
throughout North America and Asia; and
WHEREAS,
in July, 2007, she was honored with the Rising Influential Award by Who's Who in
Asian American Communities; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Li became a U. S. citizen in March, 2007, and she is married and has a
young son.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together in honoring Mrs. Jane Li for her efforts in promoting relationships
between Ningbo, China, and this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is hereby authorized and
directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Jane
Li.
