RESOLUTION
Commending
Donna Chandler; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
The Townelaker
magazine each month recognizes a local
person that exemplifies the qualities of a pathfinder, or someone that is
leading the way, trying to make the community the best it can be;
and
WHEREAS,
Donna Chandler was recognized by
The Townelaker
magazine as Pathfinder of the Month for
September 2006 and was nominated for Pathfinder of the Year for 2007;
and
WHEREAS,
Donna Chandler is a key volunteer in the American Cancer's Love Lights a Tree
and Relay for Life, who organizes both events and recruits other volunteers;
and
WHEREAS,
she has also served as a volunteer for the Cherokee County Special Olympics; and
WHEREAS,
volunteerism, the willingness of people to work on behalf of others without the
expectation of pay or other tangible gain, is what being a part of a community
is all about; and
WHEREAS,
Donna is the type of volunteer and the type of person who remembers to do the
thing to make other people happy, who takes the loneliness out of the alone by
talking to them, who is concerned when others are unconcerned, who has the
courage to be a prophet and to say the things that have to be said for the good
of all, and who most importantly takes action to help others when they need it
the most.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
and congratulate Donna Chandler on being recognized by
The Townelaker
magazine as Pathfinder of the Month for
September 2006 and as a nominee for Pathfinder of the Year for 2007 and express
to her their appreciation for her selfless contributions to her community and
this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Donna Chandler.
