RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Tim Crimmins, Anne Farrisee, Diane Kirkland, Jamil Zainaldin, the
Georgia Humanities Council, Georgia State University, the University of Georgia,
and Senator George Hooks for their work in support of
Democracy Restored: A
History of the Georgia State Capital; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Democracy Restored: A
History of the Georgia State Capital is a
unique account of Georgia history as the state grew and developed in and around
the Georgia capitol building; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding publication was coauthored by Tim Crimmins and Anne Farrisee
who were dedicated to preserving Georgia´s proud heritage for generations
to come; and
WHEREAS,
Diane Kirkland and the Department of Economic Development created magnificent
photographs of the restoration of the capitol building to be used in this
amazing historical publication; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Humanities Council, with the support of the General Assembly,
undertook to publish this history of our great state and has graciously
distributed copies of
Democracy Restored
to every library in every Georgia public
middle and high school; and
WHEREAS,
Georgia State University worked diligently with the Georgia Humanities Council
to construct a first-rate account of the history of the capitol building;
and
WHEREAS,
the University of Georgia Press was instrumental in publishing a superbly
designed and illustrated publication; and
WHEREAS,
the Honorable Senator George Hooks was a significant champion both of the
restoration of the capitol and this fine history of Georgia´s statehouse;
and
WHEREAS, each of these entities and individuals are to be applauded for their hard work, devotion, and, most importantly, for providing this tremendous gift to the citizens of this state which will be treasured for many generations to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Tim Crimmins, Anne Farrisee, Diane Kirkland, Jamil Zainaldin, the Georgia Humanities Council, Georgia State University, the University of Georgia, and Senator George Hooks for their outstanding support of Democracy Restored: A History of the Georgia State Capitol.
WHEREAS, each of these entities and individuals are to be applauded for their hard work, devotion, and, most importantly, for providing this tremendous gift to the citizens of this state which will be treasured for many generations to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Tim Crimmins, Anne Farrisee, Diane Kirkland, Jamil Zainaldin, the Georgia Humanities Council, Georgia State University, the University of Georgia, and Senator George Hooks for their outstanding support of Democracy Restored: A History of the Georgia State Capitol.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Tim Crimmins, Anne
Farrisee, Diane Kirkland, Jamil Zainaldin, the Georgia Humanities Council,
Georgia State University, the University of Georgia, and Senator George Hooks.
