RESOLUTION
Recognizing
St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church on the occasion of its hosting of the 143rd
Session of the Georgia Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal
Church; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church will host the 143rd Session of the Georgia
Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church on April 6 through
12, 2008; and
WHEREAS,
located in Savannah, Georgia, this historic church is known as the "Mother
Church of African Methodism in Georgia"; and
WHEREAS,
the Conference will be presided over by Bishop William Phillips DeVeaux,
Presiding Prelate of the Sixth Episcopal District (Georgia) of the African
Methodist Episcopal Church; and
WHEREAS,
the Sixth Episcopal District consists of over 700 churches throughout Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church is delighted to have the distinct privilege
of hosting this important and joyous event.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
recognizing St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church on having the honor to host the
143rd Session of the Georgia Annual Conference of the African Methodist
Episcopal Church and extend their best wishes for a happy and enriching
gathering.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to St. Philip Monumental
A.M.E. Church and its pastor, George A. Moore, Jr.
