A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Lieutenant Bill Greene of the Powder Springs Police Department; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Bill Greene has served the Powder Springs Police Department for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Greene graduated from the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy on June 19, 1987, and was hired by the Powder Springs Police Department as a patrol officer in December, 1987; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Greene was promoted to sergeant in April, 1991, and to lieutenant in November, 2000; and

WHEREAS, in March, 1995, he received the POST certificate as Field Training Officer, and in September, 1997, he received the POST certificate as General Instructor, and he was certified as a Crime Prevention Specialist by the Georgia Crime Prevention Association in July, 1998; and

WHEREAS, he has received many certificates of appreciation, including a Certificate of Appreciation for education of the Powder Springs Police Explorers, Post 145; the Cobb Family Resources' Certificate of Achievement; and the Powder Springs Community Task Force Certificate of Appreciation; and

WHEREAS, in 2002, the Power Springs Kiwanis Club presented him with an award for outstanding commitment to community service; and

WHEREAS, he received the Outstanding Volunteer Commitment Award from the Cobb Community Collaborative, Cobb Family Resources, and the Cobb United Way in January, 2002; and
WHEREAS, he proudly served as chaplain for the Powder Springs Police Department from 1996 until 2005; and

WHEREAS, his actions have brought honor to his family, community, the Powder Springs Police Department, and the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Lieutenant Bill Greene for his valorous service to the Powder Springs Police Department and to the State of Georgia and extend to him their sincerest best wishes for his future health and fulfillment.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Lieutenant Bill Greene.
