RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Officer Shane Collie of the Woodstock Police Department; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Officer Shane Collie has been named Officer of the Year at the annual awards
ceremony sponsored by the Canton Moose Lodge; and
WHEREAS,
Officer Collie gained distinction by requiring essays for minor offenses in
order to divert those who might otherwise have ended up in jail or juvenile
detention; and
WHEREAS,
his collaboration with the Department of Public Works to install delineators for
preventing traffic accidents gained the attention of the award committee and his
supervisors; and
WHEREAS,
with precision and professionalism, Officer Collie has made 98 arrests and
issued over 300 citations since January of 2007; and
WHEREAS,
Officer Collie has demonstrated the need to be comprehensive in his approach,
and he continues to set new standards for others in the department;
and
WHEREAS,
his actions have brought honor to his family, community, the Woodstock Police
Department, and the State of Georgia.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Officer Shane Collie for his valorous service to the Woodstock Police
Department and to the State of Georgia and extend to him their sincerest best
wishes for his future health and fulfillment.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Officer Shane Collie.
