RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending DeAnna Jarrett; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Deputy Sheriff DeAnna Jarrett of Cherokee County defines the ideal of service to
the public by law enforcement on or off duty; and
WHEREAS,
on March 19, 2007, off-duty Deputy Sheriff Jarrett displayed selfless courage
and heroism in responding to an automotive accident and preventing a tragedy;
and
WHEREAS,
at 9:00 p.m. there occurred an automobile accident on Georgia Highway 515 across
from Piedmont Mountainside Medical Center in Jasper, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Deputy Sheriff Jarrett stopped at the wreck site and began to assist by pulling
one of the drivers from his vehicle when the car suddenly erupted in flames;
despite the obvious danger to herself, she continued to remove the victim, a
United States military enlisted man who had suffered a broken leg;
and
WHEREAS,
her extraordinary heroism has brought honor to the law enforcement
profession.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that this body hereby recognizes and
commends Deputy Sheriff DeAnna Jarrett for her outstanding service to the State
of Georgia and its citizens and expresses its gratitude to her.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sheriff Deputy DeAnna
Jarrett.
