A RESOLUTION


Honoring and remembering the life of James Pollard; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, James Pollard, who was born and raised in Bremen, Georgia and was cherished throughout the community as the voice of the Bremen High School Blue Devils; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from Bremen High School before attending West Georgia College and later graduating from the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Bremen, Georgia, where he served as a lay leader, was a member of the Methodist Men, and taught Sunday school; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Pollard announced football games for Bremen High School for more than 48 years, and he was an active participant in public life, serving civic organizations such as the Cub Scouts and various Little League teams; and

WHEREAS, he showed admirable courage throughout his life, standing up to persons in power without ever compromising his own beliefs; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Pollard's immense dedication to the Bremen community was surpassed only by his loving devotion to his family, and he was a stellar husband to Yvonne for over 60 years; a wonderful father to Rick, Skip, and Dave; and a constant source of encouragement for his seven grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, as in life he has commanded the esteem of several generations of colleagues, neighbors, and Bremen High School students, it is fitting and proper at his passing that this body salute such a distinguished citizen of the State of Georgia and the United States.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor and remember the inspiring life of Mr. James Pollard, express their profound appreciation for his tremendous service to his community and to this state, and extend their sincerest condolences to his family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. James Pollard.
