RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Sacred Heart School in Warner Robins, Georgia; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Sacred Heart School in Warner Robins, Georgia, is a small Catholic parochial
school with approximately 270 students; and
WHEREAS,
the librarian for the school, Adrian L. Hobbs, has a strong desire to help the
students through the provision of books and other library materials;
and
WHEREAS,
she has successfully obtained a grant from the American Library
Association´s We
the People Bookshelf program for the past
two years; and
WHEREAS,
the American Library Association in cooperation with the National Endowment for
the Humanities selects 2,000 libraries each year for the
We the People
Bookshelf grants of books and other
library materials; and
WHEREAS,
this program supports the reading of classic literature through the provision of
a collection of books recommended for young readers; and
WHEREAS,
titles selected for the
We the People
Bookshelf grants highlight important
chapters in American history or express universal themes that are integral parts
of American culture and are intended to represent the rich texture of the
American heritage, a tradition that has incorporated ideas and texts from around
the world; and
WHEREAS,
the efforts of the Sacred Heart School to educate its students and to provide
appropriate and enriching literature is worthy of recognition and
commendation.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend the Sacred Heart School and its librarian Adrian L. Hobbs for the
hard work and effort in educating the students at the school and congratulate
them on their second
We the People
Bookshelf grant.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Adrian L. Hobbs.
