RESOLUTION
Commending
the work of the St. Marlo Fraud Coalition; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
mortgage fraud is one of the most serious crimes of our time, and the financial
ruin caused to the victims of this crime is devastating; and
WHEREAS,
the sophisticated tactics employed by the perpetrators of this crime require
intensive investigation before any charges can be brought; and
WHEREAS,
the St. Marlo Fraud Coalition is made up of the individuals who do the
painstaking work required to bring mortgage fraud criminals to justice;
and
WHEREAS,
the coalition, to date, has uncovered over $25 million of mortgage fraud
occurring over the last seven years, and the investigations are ongoing;
and
WHEREAS,
the members of the St. Marlo Fraud Coalition are Richard Pickering, Meg Baer,
Byron Bradley, and Eric Cunningham; and
WHEREAS,
the coalition works closely with FBI Special Agents Will Filson and Steven
McGinty, and with Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of
Georgia, Gale McKenzie; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting that these individuals be commended for the dedicated work
they have done and continue to do to fight this insidious criminal
conduct.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the St. Marlo Fraud Coalition and the other individuals named herein for their
outstanding work in investigating and successfully prosecuting mortgage
fraud.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each of the individuals
named in this resolution.
