A
RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of Carolyn Catrina Edwards; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost one of its finest and most distinguished young
individuals with the untimely passing of Carolyn Catrina Edwards;
and
WHEREAS,
Carolyn worked as a logistics coordinator for the United States Embassy
Billeting Office in Baghdad, Iraq; and
WHEREAS,
Carolyn Catrina Edwards was born on September 2, 1968, to Mary Ann Tookes
Edwards and the late Willie Edwards; and
WHEREAS,
she was the granddaughter of the Late Willis and Mary Lois Harpe Tookes of
Oglethorpe, Georgia, and the late Edd Lee and Katie Edwards of Reynolds,
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Carolyn was educated in the public school system of Macon County where she
graduated with honors in 1986 from the Macon County High School in Montezuma,
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
upon graduation she went on to earn her Associate Degree in Sociology from Macon
State College in 1992 and competed her Bachelor of Science in accounting from
Albany State University in 1997; and
WHEREAS,
Carolyn was the director of Family Connection of Macon County, later becoming
development director for the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Habitat for Humanity;
and
WHEREAS,
Carolyn was a community leader and an ambitious individual always open to new
learning experiences and adventures in life; and
WHEREAS,
she joined the Davis Chapel AME Church at a young age and later joined the
Friendship Baptist Church of DeSoto, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Carolyn was a dedicated and loving mother to her son, Darius Larry, and a loving
daughter and best friend to her mother, Mary Ann Tookes Edwards;
and
WHEREAS,
her unfortunate departure has left scars upon the hearts of grieving friends,
family, and colleagues.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together in honoring the memory of Carolyn Catrina Edwards and extending the
deepest and most sincere condolences to her family and friends.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Carolyn
Catrina Edwards.
