A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the Etowah High School Eagles football team; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Etowah High School Eagles football team has established and maintained a
proud tradition of excellence in football with equal emphases on character and
academics; and
WHEREAS,
this superlative team has completed an illustrious season of football
competition by posting an outstanding record of eight wins and only four losses;
and
WHEREAS,
the Eagles started the season with a 1- 2 record after losing to cross-town
rival Woodstock in triple overtime. They then rallied to win six straight games
defeating the # 9 and #10 ranked teams in the state becoming the Region 5-AAAAA
champions after defeating North Cobb; and
WHEREAS,
this marked the first time Etowah won a region championship in football and
their first playoff win upon the defeat of the state powerhouse Parkview;
and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team as it finished the season with the most
wins in the history of the school is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team and their superb offensive and defensive
talents; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision during the season and earned its
well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality
of its play, and the stiff competition which it presented its
opponents.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Etowah High School Eagles football team for its unparalleled achievements
and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the
future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Bill Stewart.
