RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the East Hall High School Vikings girls basketball team; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the East Hall High School Vikings girls basketball team recently completed the
2006-2007 season with an overall exemplary record of 31 wins and one loss (14-1
region), winning their first state title since 1980; and
WHEREAS,
it´s the first state championship in 27 years for the East Hall girls, and
it´s the proper ending to a playoff run for the Lady Vikings, who defeated
No. 1 Carrollton and No. 3 Kendrick in a span of eight days;
and
WHEREAS,
East Hall has long been regarded as a boys basketball haven, but now the ladies
are on an even footing; and
WHEREAS,
with the win, the Lady Vikings finished with a school record in wins, with three
more than the 1979 state champions; and they´ll carry a 12 game winning
streak into the 2007-2008 season; and
WHEREAS,
the record of victories amassed by this East Hall High School team is the result
of the talents, athletic abilities, training, and hard work of the members of
the team and the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Allen Pritchett; Assistant
Coaches Sylvia Akers, Mia Borders, LaChele Brown, Katie Barrett, Ron Ely, and
Lucy Kole; and Managers Darishone Ellison, Peyton Martin, Holly Strickland, and
Morgan Jackson; and
WHEREAS,
the team members are Hannah Strickland, Erin McGonigle, Dorreka Faulkner,
Jennifer Harris, Jessica Blackwell, Kela Coleman, Leania Bulloch, Sonata
Chester, Jasmine Butler, Tierra Benton, Kristina Harris, Symone Hampton, Lisa
Coleman, Dreka Wheeler, and Sada Wheeler; and
WHEREAS,
the team´s fans and community are justly proud of its outstanding
achievements.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend the East Hall High School Vikings girls basketball team, the
2006-2007 Class AA State Champions and extend to the team members best wishes
for continued success on and off the court.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to East Hall High School.
