RESOLUTION
Commending
Dr. S. William Clark III; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. S. William Clark III is an accomplished physician, leader of the medical
community, and a distinguished citizen of the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Clark earned his undergraduate degree from Davidson College, received his
M.D. at the Medical College of Georgia in 1979, and completed his residency at
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Clark is a practicing ophthalmologist at Clark Eye Clinic, an active staff
member of the Satilla Regional Medical Center, a clinical assistant professor at
the Emory Eye Center and the Medical College of Georgia, and currently serves as
president of the Medical Association of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Clark follows in his father's footsteps, Dr. S. William Clark Jr., as
president of the Medical Association of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
in his decades of service as a physician, Dr. Clark has tirelessly and
enthusiastically devoted himself to the medical community and the fight for
patient and physician rights, and he has taken on an active role in politics,
promoting state and federal policy on health care; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Clark has held many leadership positions with the Medical Association of
Georgia, acting as a representative and advocate for patients and his peers,
helping to pass meaningful legislation in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has served on the Board of Directors of the Medical Association of Georgia
and as a delegate, a young physicians delegate, a vice chair of the Finance
Committee, and a vice chair of the Georgia delegation to the American Medical
Association; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Clark has worked tirelessly to serve his community through civic organizations such as the Waycross-Ware Chamber of Commerce, the Okefenokee Heritage Center, Leadership Waycross, Leadership Georgia, and the First United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Clark has worked tirelessly to serve his community through civic organizations such as the Waycross-Ware Chamber of Commerce, the Okefenokee Heritage Center, Leadership Waycross, Leadership Georgia, and the First United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
his immense dedication to his community is surpassed only by his devotion to his
family, and he is a loving husband to Jill and a stellar father of three
daughters, Victoria, Evelyn, and Alora.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Dr. S. William Clark III for his many contributions to health care policy and to
the welfare of the citizens of this state and extend to him their sincerest best
wishes for his future health and fulfillment.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. S. William Clark III.
