RESOLUTION
Honoring
and remembering the life of Talmadge Olen Jones; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia has lost one of its most distinguished businessmen and
servants of the community with the passing of Talmadge Olen Jones on March 26,
2007; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Jones, born on December 9, 1933, was a talented entrepreneur who owned and
operated Jones Recylcing, Inc., for many years; and
WHEREAS,
he was a faithful long-time member of the First United Pentecostal Church in
Glennville and an esteemed member of Ezell Mason Lodge in Claxton;
and
WHEREAS,
his tireless dedication to his community was surpassed only by his loving
devotion to his family, and he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn
Mitchell Jones; a daughter and son-in law, Sandra and John Wingate; sons and
daughters-in-law, Arnie Talmadge and Renee Jones, Randy "Allen," Sr., and Janet
Jones, and Rickey Olen Jones; a sister, Elizabeth Jones Brannen; a brother and
sister-in-law, Glenn and Jackie Jones; eight grandchildren; and ten
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
in life he was an immeasurable source of strength and encouragement for
countless neighbors, colleagues, and friends; at his death it is fitting and
proper that we offer our sympathies to his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join
together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Talmadge Olen Jones
and extend their most sincere condolences to his family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Talmadge Olen Jones.
