A RESOLUTION


Commending the Xi-Iota Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Kappa Sigma is the oldest Greek-lettered fraternity in the world beginning with its inception in Bologna, Italy, in 1400, and in the United States at the University of Virginia on December 10, 1869; and

WHEREAS, the Xi-Iota Chapter of Kappa Sigma was founded on the campus of Columbus State University by 16 men on November 16, 1996, with the goal of bringing the pride and legacy of the Star and Crescent to Columbus State University; and

WHEREAS, the Xi-Iota Chapter of Kappa Sigma has initiated over 100 men during its ten years on campus and has continually led other fraternities in areas such as academic excellence, intramural sports, and philanthropic events; and

WHEREAS, the Xi-Iota Chapter of Kappa Sigma currently consists of 25 active brothers and ranks as the number one fraternity at the university in terms of academics.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Xi-Iota Chapter of Kappa Sigma for their fine achievements at Columbus State University.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Xi-Iota Chapter of Kappa Sigma.
