RESOLUTION
Commending
the Stephenson High School Lady Jaguars varsity basketball team; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Stephenson High School Lady Jaguars varsity basketball team has established
and maintained a proud tradition of excellence in girls basketball with equal
emphases on character and academics; and
WHEREAS,
the 2006-2007 Lady Jaguars conducted a phenomenal season, becoming Class AAAAA
State Semi-Finalists and posting an amazing 31-1 record, and they were ranked
fifth in the nation by
Sports
Illustrated; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of Head Coach Dennis Watkins, Jr.; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team, composed of Charmaine Ross, Dana Blue, Ashlie
Billingslea, Kirstyn Wright, Shyanne Halfkenny, Shunice Hardy, Kirsten Robinson,
Eboni Ross, Rudie Denson, Jenaelle Stephenson, Jylisa Williams, and Prittany
White, performed with precision during the season and earned its well-deserved
reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, the quality of its play,
and the stiff competition which it presented its opponents.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Stephenson High School Lady Jaguars varsity basketball team for its
unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued
success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Dennis Watkins,
Jr.
